Thousands of people left this Saturday,
April 6, 2019, on the streets of Venezuela in demonstrations against or in
favor of the regime of Nicolás Maduro. Opposition leader Juan Guaidó, who
already has the recognition of more than 50 countries, including the United
States and Brazil, gathered thousands of people in a neighborhood of the
capital.
The march in favor of Nicolás Maduro ended
in front of the Miraflores Palace, seat of the government, in Caracas.
Demonstrators called for peace and an end to foreign interference.
Already the opposition leader, Juan
Guaidó, gathered thousands of people in another neighborhood of the capital.
They have protested the blackouts that hit the country since last month. Guaidó
is already recognized as interim president by more than 50 countries, including
the United States and Brazil.
He called a new demonstration for
Wednesday, April 10, 2019. And said the protests are part of the Freedom operation
- a set of opposition measures to return democracy to Venezuela. He also
announced a meeting of world leaders in Venezuela to discuss the humanitarian
emergency and the transition of power.
During demonstrations on Saturday (6), two
opposition deputies were arrested by the Bolivarian national guard and released
two hours later. One of them says he was beaten and robbed by the guards.
